Kind of touching the edge of the dangers of pushing horses or people into learned helplessness: when they stop listening to/paying attention to danger they are more likely to make bad or dangerous choices. I feel that this pushing past perception and intuition is something that happens to riders to; I have certainly felt pressure to do things I am not comfortable with by trainers. Thank you for sharing this research

Belöning i massor längs vägen. Tänk samma med hästen. Tack för dina fina artiklar :-)

It's important to understand the reasons behind why horses crash into fences. I agree with the research conducted by Marianne Davies about the dangers of traditional horse training that focuses on obedience rather than jumping skills. This can limit a horse's ability to make independent decisions and can lead to unsafe situations. I also appreciate the emphasis on the horse-rider dyad as a complex system that makes decisions together, where the horse's perception of the environment is equally important as that of the rider.

One thing I would like to add is the importance of using a best calmer for nervous horses. Using a calmer can help the horse to relax and focus on the task at hand, rather than getting worked up and making decisions based on fear. This can also help prevent refusals and ultimately lead to fewer injuries.

I wouldn’t say punishing a horse for refusing is “traditional “ but a new training concept. Traditional is loose jumping and then fox hunting.
